Rats!!!! Thought I'd gotten this on earlier---but----here it is:

Got a '77 johnson, 115hp. I need to go work on it for a guy. He had a prowler recently, and the guy got the key by screwdrivering it, and twisting back and forth. The guy says now the boat won't start.

I figure it's because one or two wires on backside got loose. We're going to put a new switch on.

Can anyone tell me what normal colors I should see on back side? I guess on "start" position, we should have ignition and starting motor. On "run", we should have ignition only.

Would appreciate your thoughts on what I've got ahead of me here.

You did, at 3:30 today. Thats ok,I will tell you the same thing. Transfer the wires one at a time, that way you will not cross any wires.

What if they're loose? How do I know which ones go where?

Sorry about double posting. I looked for it earlier, but didn't find it.

I don't have a manual for that motor. I am sure someone will come along and help you out.
