Hello,
I just bought a 12' Model E alumacraft. I'm trying to find weight and max. HP for this boat. I'm only using a 5HP motor now so I'm not to concerned about that but weight would be good to know. Plus if I ever upgrade my motor it would be good to know how big I can go! The boat is in excellent condition just needs a new transom material. I was wondering if anyone has ever used marine board for transom rebuilds? I'm also considering sanding and painting it to prevent any further oxidization as it does have some oxidization now. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Re: 12' Alumacraft Model E

i used a 2x10 and rabited the top so it would slip into the upper channel.. don't use pressure treated, as it is not compatible with the aluminum. couple of good coats of paint. at the top of this forum is 'coast guard rule' clik on it, and search. it has the criteria for you to calculate your max.

Re: 12' Alumacraft Model E

We have a Model E that has gone unused for a number of years since kids all left home. We decided we should sell it, so we got it off the rack to take pictures and check the specks. Tag says it is "designed to acommodate an outboard motor of not more than 12 O.B.C certified horsepower under average operating conditions." It is in great condition. Our question is what is it worth????
