This is my first boat purchase and wanted something to take on the family lake and other areas. Aside from all the HOLES in the benches, rail, transom and a slight pin hole in my stern floor I am pleased with it. Paint and hull are beat to death, but that is to be expected with the small price I paid for it. Not much is going to happen to the boat. Just going to do simple light setup and MAYBE a live well. I've seen a lot of people do amazing things with Jon boats, but to me this has me set for this year of getting around the lake outside of my kayak.

Since I will be doing somethings to it, and I love showing off my learning projects I will be updating you all on it. I paid $200 for the boat not including the battery or trolling motor.

If pictures are not allowed in this format feel free to remove. I tried attaching them, but my DSLR file size is huge.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... I once had a jon-barge kinda like that one,....

Leaked like a sieve,..... All in all, it was too tippy for me, worse than a canoe,....

I sold it for what I had in it, 'n included a couple tubes of caulkin' with it,....

Good Luck with Yer's,...

Previous owners went crazy with self tapping screws. I can't wait to get Durafix and fix her this winter as far as cosmetics.

Have you actually used the DuraFix product before? I've been researching it for a while and have seen a mixed bag for reviews. It seems to be a bit quirky in its application. Conditions seem to have to be just about perfect in order to get a good bond. Unless you have some major rib or structural damage I think you'd be much better off repairing small holes and leaks with the Gluvit or Coat-It epoxy products. A LOT of the members here on the forum use it with GREAT results. For a boat your size, you could do the entire inside of the boat for less than $30 bucks.

The holes I am speaking of using Durafix on is the rim and seat areas. It's all cosmetic. I may look at another method of sealing the holes up. I saw mixed reviews on it as well.

That Coat-It looks neat and easier than Durafix and probably the sure thing to prevent future leaks, etc on the jon boat. Price is excellent as well...thank you for posting that!

For the pin holes use JB Weld. If you need to sand it do it before it fully cures. I've also used a backer of aluminum for larger holes (on the inside of the hull).

The Gluvit or Coat-it is great for sealing leaky seams

Took her out on Lake Wedowee over the weekend. She handled wonderful. First trip in public waters and wife went with me. Also first fish brought it was a beautiful bass. Caught her within 20 minutes of being on the water.

I know for a fact though...TRAILER and navigation lights. I was disappointed coming in early when the biting picked up.

This year I treated myself to a Coleman 5hp outboard for 50% at Academy. She runs like a champ. Currently breaking in the motor before I hit up the lakes this season.

Picked up a trailer last year and have to modify it to better suit my needs. Gets the job done, but I want to make it easier for me to load the boat and not have to get out and in the water every time and adjust the current bunks.
