12' sea scamp floor

I am considering putting a floor in between the rear ad front seat, about 6' length. I was wondering if it would be wise, safe, OK to run the flooring into the "slot" in the side of the boat that runs right along where the water live would be and use it as a support for the outer edge of the flooring?

It would probably work, but from the pics I saw the slot looks to be only a couple of inches lower than the seat...kind of high for floor.
