12 volt battery dual hook up for 12 volt trolling motor

I was given two 65ah deep cycle batteries that are the kind that are sealed and you don't add water. They both seem to be in good shape. Is it okay to hook these up dual so I can get more hours of service out of them between charging? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

It is fine. If you connect it positive to positive (hot to Hot) and Negative to Negative (ground to ground) you will have double the amps but sill only 12 volts. If you connect it Negative to positive and use the other ends as the terminals, you will have 24 volts and I THINK 1/2 the amperage.
