Hey Joe
Do you have a picture of this 12 volt diode or a picture on how to install this diode

The cure is to purchase a diode which is capable of handling 12 volts and installing it between the starter terminal of the starter solenoid (NOT the battery cable terminal) and the wiring terminal that supplies voltage to the pulsepack.

Re: 12 Volt Diode

A common silicone diode should do the trick. Be sure to forward bias it when you install it....in English, that means , make sure the banded end of the diode is closest to the power pack. Tip: The diode allows current to flow in only one direction.

Here's what one looks like.

Radio Shack sells them in a one pack too. The difference in the part numbers (1N4001, 1N4005 etc) is different diodes can handle different working voltages at 1 Amp current. All should work at 12VDC.

Re: 12 Volt Diode

1 amp is a little wimpy for a 12 volt system, I would go with a 3 amp diode with a 35-70V rating to be safe. :D
The RS will have them as well!

Re: 12 Volt Diode

It's been a long time since I read Joes' article , and if memory serves, no mention was made about the current requirements for the additional B+ wire. It would be a simple matter to throw an amp meter inline and see what the current draw is to more closely match the diode.
