My Holsclaw trailer tires were originally 12x6.00 bias ply and I can't find them any place. I guess they are now obsolete? It is a single axle trailer. If I get the 5.30 will it be the same diameter tire and just a bit less in cross section? I haven't checked with antique tire companies because I don't want to spend a hundred or more per tire.

The 5.3-12 will probably be smaller in diameter as well. Measure your original tires if you still have them. 5.3-12 tires are about 22 inches in diameter. The next larger readily available size is 175/80-13 at 24 inches.

More important than the size is the load rating of the tire. Check the sidewall of the old 12x6.00 tire to see what the load range is. For example a 5.30 x 12 load range "C" will carry 1050 lbs per tire. Determine the weight of the trailer and boat and choose a tire with the appropriate load range.

I'd like to stay with 12" because I want to use my original wheels with the hubcap attachment springs.

Right now I have on two "do-fers", 4.80x12 load range B tire/rim combo I bought at a marina. They worked just fine when I brought the boat home from 10 highway hours away.

I found the 5.30x12 load range C for $50 apiece from an internet vendor.
