Bought a Quicksilver brand thermostat off eBay. It's definitely new, but is imprinted "6/99".
I contacted seller, he admits it is old stock.

It would be safe/OK to use, right? It's brass and metal, it doesn't go bad, right?

Maybe a dumb question, but it just kind of threw me off. Was expecting a "new new" thermo, not an "old new" thermo.

toss it in a pot of water on the stove with a cooking therm and see when it opens.
They dont have a "shelf" life like hoses or other stuff..

Should be just fine unless it's rusty or damaged.
