Hello all. I have a 1995 120 hp force in what i think is pretty good shape. Has good compression on all cylinders and has been running very good of late. That is until.
Replaced stator about a week ago.
Ran boat 1 time and it ran good until I saw the volt meter on dash showing 17 volts.
When i got to the boat ramp and tried to restart motor it would not start.
Took it back to mechanic and was told bad starter, which I do believe.
Replaced starter.
All seems to be well now but still showing 16.5 to 17 volts at wot.
Shows correct voltage at low rpms.
Other than the battery what will I hurt and also what maybe the problem if anyone has a guess.
Thank you very much.

bobby

New stator must be stronger. There is a stronger voltage regulator that may be necessary. You can get just the stator, or an update kit. He must've just gotten the stator. The kit includes hardware, brackets, and stuff plus a voltage regulator. Naturally it costs more, so he probabaly quoted the cheaper option for you. It'll fail. It needs to be replaced. The new one is physically larger and the two mounting holes may be a bit further apart, maybe not. That's where the bracket and hardware came in. That stuff can be improvised.
