Water is leaking into the boat around the motor causing the pump to come on. I was told that it needed a Trundel bearing and boot. Does any one know how to fix this problem? Thank you.
It sounds like the u- joint bellows have gotten a hole in them causing your leak and also taking out the gimball bearing and in all likelyhood the u-joints as well.Can be a frustrating job.Are you up to it?
Bellows are a really common maintenance item on Mercruiser stern drives. It is a really tedious job and very difficult without the right tools. If you can pay someone else to do it I would highly recommend it.
