If it is cracked what options do i have i dont want another v8 like i had in my old boat it was hard on gas. Is the 4.3 ok on fuel will it bolt up , my out drive strong enough? where can i find a good reman 2.5 ? 1973 starcraft ss 2.5 with old outdrive

Ayuh,... Yer only Upgrade option is a 3.0l, 140hp motor...
It'll bolt up, without issues...

The 4.3l will require changing the outdrive to a different gear ratio...

those lil 140s are quite an improvment over the 120 with the high cost of fuel on the horizon that would be my choice

I agree the 3.0 liter is a big improvement. Before you go pulling the engine however, be sure to check your manifold and riser as a possible cause of the water in the oil.

Yes my exhaust manifold was cracked i drilled each end heated and welded. Its not leaking now that i can see. It still would not let the water mix with the oil would it? Unless the block is cracked inside? whats a riser?

Its been sitting for 3yrs so im hoping its condensation. yeah i know fat chance! It runs great i ran it about 20 mins on muffs last week oil looked the same on stick just a lil milky it never climbed up the stick like a car will do as oil level rises? O well time will tell or an oil change.

Ayuh,... Cracked manifolds don't put water in the oil,...
The riser is the thingy bolted on the aft end, that redirects the water downward...

If the oil level ain't rising,...
Ya might be Lucky,...
