Post drive shaft seal replacement I hooked her up to the hose to test for oil in the gearcase. Good news! No oil in gear case &steady tell tale/pisser Bad news water coming out of 4screw cover on the midsection of the engine. Why would water come from here? Pics attached

Perfectly normal. The drive shaft runs in an isolation tube. The tube has large drain holes in the bottom end. Water drains out of those holes as it should. If it did not, it would fill up and slosh out the top.

Great! Thanks for the quick response! I was hoping I was not missing the grommet at the top of the water pump. Never took it off. If the pump housing was not in the water tube I would have weak or no stream right? Just does not seem like that union is as tight as it should be in my opinion. Anything to watch out for/Can damage be done if water fills up midsection?

yes correct. water wont fill up midsection, just watch out for telltale not working or gear oil escaping

I thought the midsection, or at least part of it, did fill up with water so as to act as a sound isolator to muffle the exhaust tube. And that the water the OP was see was just drainage
