Hi to ALL.
I'm new to FORCE motors just got 125 hp from old man for free.
The motor was sitting decades in garage, some parts are missing.
Decide to make her run, I like FORCE design.
After first exam so far:
Carburetors are clean and shiny, spark plugs are brand new, ignition coil are good, stator and trigger are good, has no spark on cyl. #3, bad ignition module#2.
I'll try home made CDI module due to a crazy price for new or used.
Starter is cranking like Russian race horse with plugs off and can't turn it with compressometer.
Starter definitely need attention.
Tilt and trim is in working condition but need to add oil. Some oil leaks around filling plug, rams are dry.
LU shifts N-F-R
Now my questions.
1. LU has two plugs for oil fill and vent. How I can drain oil? There is no plug on the bottom:confused:
2. How to drain completely T&T? Or it's OK to mix old and fresh oil? Thank you in advance.

The one with the slotted screw is a shift pin.Pic#2 DO NOT REMOVE!!!
From the number you posted it's an 88
There IS an allen head set screw on the very bottom.
If it won't turn over for a compression test, maybe the starter needs cleaning?
The T+T what color oil?
Red or brown? Red is trim/tilt fluid.
Brown is 30wt. motor oil.
It won't hurt to mix old and new.
Spray WD or white lithium grease on the trim rams.
The power pack can be found on e-bay. Or Standard Magneto has it.
FCB 3011D Ignition Module Force Outboards About $130
Before you make or buy, try changing the connectors on all the wires.
They can be real skinny and break under the shrink wrap. They can even survive a tug test.

If it set that long the inside of the carbs probably need cleaning.
If there is any foam left inside the cowl it should be removed.

The hard turning over could also be a bad cylinder:(
After the starter repair.
Make sure the connections are good, the battery hot,the cables good.
Then try the comp test.
With a flash light, you can see the top of the pistons as you turn the flywheel.
Look for any differences.

Re: 125 FORCE 1258X5A Resurrection

Thank you Jerry for your help.
Today got starter motor disassembled, cleaned commutator plate, brushes are in good condition.
Starter won't turn over flywheel if even one spark plug or compressometer is in. Turning flywheel by the hands gave fillings of huge compression when piston approaches TDC. Probably need better cables. I used jamp start cables from auto parts store.
Lower unit oil drained, really hard to find so small drain plug. No water or metal shavings were in the oil.
Some more questions.
Is it any quick fuel line connector between motor and fuel line? Or hose connected to the fuel pump directly. Exploded view on marine parts sites has no parts# for this.
Thank you and have a nice boating.

The inline connectors are junk and will usually be thrown away.
I removed mine as soon as I bought the boat in 1988.
If you need inline connectors use OMC or Yamaha or Mercury.
Most jumper cables are crap, they have wire that's too small to carry any amount of current.
It's ok for helping charge the battery but not for a direct start.
When you reinstall the drain plug, use pipe tape on the plug threads.
