125 hp float level....

Hello<br />I have a 86 125 force thats rebuilt and runs real good all around.Problem is when i shut it down theres excessive fuel thats puddled around shroud base...w/o tilting motor too far up that fuel would run out of bowls???<br />Could it be float level needs to be cut down a notch??Fair bit of fuel in behind carb intake plastic cover as well.<br />any ideas?<br />thanks

watershed,<br /><br />I'v got a very similar issue with my '84 force 125. Somone correct me if I'm wrong but the way I understand it is if you pump the fuel bulb and it floods the engine, it's time to order a carb kit. <br /><br />I just got my new kits this week and I plan on tearing down the carbs, giving them a good cleaning and adjusting them to spec. I'm hoping it will help with the excessive fuel comsumption, the stalling as I shift from neutral into gear and the leaking as I tilt the engine forward.<br /><br />Jeff

ljshein,if this helps stop the leaking when you tilt engine forward please post info. I had to tilt up for shallow water today and noticed gas leaking from top carb. Thanks davexx

carbs holding fuel ok with bulb tight.just did some checking around,was told to clean fuel recirculation screens and check the check valve too.never touched those,,,suppossed to put the extra fuel at low speed/idle then shut down to reed area i guess to reduce overboard polution...will checkem out,if ok will do the carb rebuild too i guess.

4 screens total...3 were pretty plugged up with old gas and crap,amazed system still passed gas.<br />cleaned up,blew out ,installed new gaskets,fired her up and ran for few minutes,so far so good, carbs not spittin at all.going to keep eye on this over weekend..<br />gas up to 4.00canadian$$ a gal today,must be friday.<br />does crappy sell locking caps for inboard tanks?..i see perko makes them.
