125hp force 1988

the problem is when you run the boat the warmer the engine gets there seems to be some kind of breakdown in the ignition system. there is a miss that comes and goes at high speed. if you back off on the throttle it seems to go away. my guess is a coil or a cd box. can anyone tell me the proper way to check these electrical components? or could it be a fuel problem?

Had a similar problem. Cut out one or more plugs. Drove me nuts. Save the tests and the guess for a good Force/Merc mechanic. Turned out a bad coil AND a bad stator. You can switch the coils around and carry a plug wrench and see if you get wet/cold plugs that change with the switch, but the stator is the likeable culprit. Possible to update to Merc ignition ($$$$)
