my 12v air pump crapped out on me. after prob at least 5-8 years 50 psi for the trailer tires made it blow a seal or something. it was pretty junky anyway.

any suggestions for a quality unit that doesn't break the bank?

...no air compressor recommendations, please. i don't have a garage and it wouldn't look too good chained to a tree.

thanks

Harbor Freight=cheap and disposable. Quality is anybodies guess given the open border.

Good quality you'll want to look into something like viair. I have one on my truck for onboard air and they rock. They make stand alone portable ones as well.

If your ac compresser on your vehicle does not work, I've used it for an onboard compresser. Just cut the lines, adapt to quick connects, install a small tank and a pressure relief, good to go. You have to have a port to put a bit of oil in,say every 2 hours of run time or it will seize up. Nature of the beast. Also run the wires to a toggle switch to turn on/off. Done deal. I learned this from a tow truck guy,he used it on the road alot, once he ran the shop,2-stalls for an entire day when the power was out.

Yup it's a old 4x4 trick. Works like a charm! I like my A/C too much tho, had to go with a electronic compressor on my truck

Re: 12v air pump

ended up with a viair 70p. it was about $50 on amazon. nice little pump in that it's very quiet and doesn't jump all over the place. it pumps really well too. filled the trailer tires to 50 psi in alot less time than the old pump. the only issue so far is that i think it blew the fuse for the cigarette lighter in the back of the 'burban. plugged into one of the front lighters and so far so good.
