12V electric pump, wich one would be the best for my 11' ?

Finally, I opened up the box of my new SIB, a Brig Dingo series D330 (10'10'') and I did set it up in my garage. It took me over an hour to get it up but I think next time it won't take as much time and I just hope so...

The foot pump is real slow and I want to get a 12V electric pump that I plug in my car's cigarette lighter plug so it takes less time. The pump as a special terminal for the 4 valves. What kind of pump should I get?

Also is it normal that air leaks out the valves after a certain pressure? The pump does'nt have any pressure gauge on it so I .

Thanks and hope I'll be on it by this weekend if weather permits! I have a 1983 7.5HP Johnson, I think I'll get easily 14-15 MPH, the boat is so light.

Hi, there are 2 chooses depending on what floor tipe you have . If is an air floor you'll need a pump that can go to min. 7 psi , if the deck is rigid any high volume low pressure pump will do.
If you have a wall-mart in your area for around $15.00 you can buy a decent pump but you'll have to use your foot pump to top off. Without a pressure gouge when you squeeze the tubes has to feel like an unopened soda can.
Hope will help

Paul's all over it. Get the cheapest air mattress pump you can round up (Coleman, Intex, etc.). Use that to inflate your SIB to 90% capacity, then use your foot pump to top her off. Cheap, easy and efficient. Does sound like you need a gauge though. If you experience issues due to overinflation you'll likely be on your own when repair or valve replacement time rolls around. If your foot pump won't accept a gauge you might consider buying one that does. NRS has some top quality manual pumps that will fill the bill. They also have gauges if you can't find one locally. Good luck.

If you will be infating/deflating sib constantly, Bravo has electric pumps that regulate the overall pressure, just dial the amount, will need 3.0 to 3.5 psi for tubes & keel if your sib model it's a wooden or alum pannel floor and same for tubes and 10/12 psi for air floor if happens to be this model.

Won't need a spare pressure gauge, air leaks out from valves at a certain pressure, only if equipped with pressure relief valves, not from main inflation valves. It's nearly impossible to overinflate a sib with a standard foot pump, will need to be extremely heavy (sumo fighter) to do so :D

Still is good to have a gauge, in my situation I'm not concern about over inflating but under inflating so the proper pressure is necessary for smooth riding when you use an engine.

I'm a big fan of using pressure gauges, have tested many brands mostly Italians that are suppossed to be top of the line, to my complete surprise all have reading differences as much as 0.5 psi between same model brands, The ones with big dials less, the ones with small dials worst. Anyway, is better for all chambers to be evenly inflated to a given pressure than doing the finger or end cone bend testing.

Finally I got today at a marine store a Hearhead 12V high pressure pump. It gives up to 2.5PSI. I think it's a little to strong finally. In my boat manual it say's that the max air is 0.15 kgf/cm?.

Max 2.5 psi pressure is perfect to start with, 0.15 kgf/cm? is 2.13 psi, still low, all tubes are rated between 3.0 to 3.5 psi, so don't worry thinking overinflation. Try max pump inflation and top sib to at least 3.0 psi if isib tubes have marshmellow sea behaviour :D . What happens when max 2.5 psi is reached ? does pump stops pumping, lowers inflation rate, warns with a sound so to know you have reached max operating pressure ?
