I have a 2003 Tohatsu 90 TLDI on a 20' skiff. When the boat and motor were new 3 years ago, I went with a 13.75x15 Michigan Vortex alum prop which would get 5700 rpm when lightly loaded. Operating range is 5150-5850 rpm. Now after three years I've added a windshield to my center console, an 8hp Suzuki kicker mounted on a bracket, and an extra battery. Now I get about 5400 rpm lightly loaded, and when all 5 of us are in the boat, I can just get above 5100 rpm.

I also have a 14x13 prop I use for heavy loads, and with a lightl load it will set off the over-rev alarm. Even with a heavy load (5 people, all their luggage, fishing tackle, propane tank, food etc), it will spin up to 5400 rpm, but of course the speed is noticeably slower.

Does anyone make a 14" pitch prop that I might be able to use for both heavy and light loads?

A quick serach on this site didn't turn up anything.

You might want to try a 13" four-blade just to see if it would work well.

I should have stated that your top speed will more than likely drop with the 4 blade - perhaps you could get one of your current props reworked at a good shop?

Good idea...can they re-work an aluminum prop?

Yes - see Modifying a standard aluminum prop thread below...
