That is your starter solenoid. Sounds like she is toast, but before buying a new one, ensure that all the connections at the battery, solenoid, and starter are shiny and tight. Manually take them off and polish them, then retighten. Also remove the motors ground from the block, polish it, then re tighten. Does it now work?
If not connect a single jumper cable between the POS battery terminal and directly to the large terminal on the starter. If the starter spins each time you do that, the solenoid is likely the culprit.
IF still not, connect another jumper cable to the NEG battery terminal and a good ground (bare bolt head or bracket) on the engine. Now do the same test you just did. If the starter now goes ok, you have a negative battery cable problem or the solenoid is bad.
