135 opti hose water comes out air intake /choke

Been having some problems. First a wet plug (water) then hooked the hose to the flusher on the motor, without the motor running. Water came out the air box. pulled the plugs water poured out the right bank all cylinders, left bank only the top cyl. I am hoping for a bad head gasket. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

That would be a good place to start. Hopefully that is where the water is coming from. What is the serial # of the motor?

Pulled the heads, on the money, head gasket blown. Figure from running too high on the jackplate,(flats Boat, Silverking), without a low water pickup. Do people usually deck the heads, for true + clean-up, or just clean them manually?

The odds are they are warped! Maybe slightly, but if your cause is correct I would deck those heads correctly... Otherwise you may have the same problem with new gaskets....

I'm gathering my senses, picking myself off the floor. part # 278525203 head gasket list price of $226 each! found them at Bam Marine on line for $201 each. Any better place to buy?

I ran accross the same situation on a rebuild. Asked Mercury why the high price and their answer was because thats the way it is.

I was going to post that seems high, but checked the Mercury parts express listing, that is a 2.5l Opt-Pop. That gasket costs more than the head assy on my 2.4l 200hp Carbed engine. I feel sorry for you. That is unreal!

Two of them cost more than my first car! Oh well the cost of having fun, we are having fun aren't we?
