Hey all, I have a 135 Chrysler that runs and revs great on muffs, but when we get to the lake, will only turn between 2000 and 3000. It's my understanding that it should turn to 5000 as it does out of the water. Any ideas/suggestions on where to start? Thanks in advance.

My best shot is do a decarb. and a link and sync.

Thanks for the advise. I'll do a decarb on Sunday as we have guests from out of town till then. Unfortunately, our trip to the lake was cut short today due to lack of power and a loose control cable.

First off, almost any engine, including a sick one running on two cylinders will turn 5000 RPM on muffs. It takes very little gas and a very small carb butterfly opening. It proves nothing.

Do a timing and carb synchronizing, being certain that the carb butterflies open fully at wide open throttle. Then, if that doesn't solve the problem, check the complete fuel system for varnish and clogs. You may need to disassemble and clean the carbs.

I'll give that a shot this weekend also. I haven't decarbed since I bought the boat last month, so that seems like it wouldn't be a bad idea either.

So I went to adjust the timing today, found it was way too far advanced. I started to retard it and one of the plastic blocks broke. Any idea where I can find one or even what it's called so I can scour the internet for one?

Re: 1357HA no power

I got the carbs adjusted and synced. It looked like I was only getting 1/3 to 1/2 throttle at WOT. I glued the plastic block back together to be able to decarb tomorrow and was able to order one from the local boat shop. Hopefully it won't take too long to get so I can retest the boat on the lake next weekend.
