13x19 prop or 13x21

im currently running a 13x19 prop on my 17' bayliner capri 1700,90 hp force outboard,it seems like its no getting all the power, do i need to go to a 21pitch or 17 ptch,i want to increase speed????i have no rpm gage,im not pulling anything its just me and my wife 225lbs each

You first have to know how many rpms your engine is spinning. Do a search on Ebay for "tiny tach". It's easy to connect and then you will know your rpms. That is very important in order to find your boats sweat spot as far as rpms go. Then you can see if you have the right prop or need to get something with a higher pitch. With the right prop and correct rpms your boat will run better. And faster....
