I'm in the process of customizing my 14' aluminum Princecraft. So far I've pulled the bow and middle seats. After a lot of back and forth I'll be leaving the two benches in the stern. I picked up a used livewell and I'll be modifying the middle seat to put it in and I'll move it up towards the bow using the forward-most rib. Does this layout seem to make sense? I'll keep the pics coming, can't wait to get in the water.
Cheers,
Pat

The layout looks good. One question will the livewell being so far forward make her bow heavy which could cause the hull to plow underway? The only other concern I would have is be sure to add structural support where the two benches have been removed. The layout you drew up looks like the structure will be fine where the benches were removed, but with the added weight of the livewell just make sure the gunwales don't flex.

Thanks for the reply. My wife was out of town for 2 weeks, so I've had plenty of time to think about what I want to do to the boat. I've modified the layout again. I realized that it would be MUCH easier to put the livewell in the seat where it was originally, since I don't have to cut the aluminium to fit further forward and all the original structural integrity is maintained.

I have a livewell plumbing question. My livewell fits perfectly in the existing seat. The drain is on the bottom and is emptied by pulling the vertical pipe, which is also the overflow. The fitting that goes into the transom (or wherever it connects to the boat) is fairly big. I'm assuming it needs to be level with the drain in the livewell, since I don't have a pump on that line, which would put it at or below the waterline. Do I need a check valve? It didn't come with one, and I'd love to keep the lake from filling my boat.

The guy I bought from also left very little threads on the outside of the pump. I'm I looking at a new pump? Should I use this as a dedicated aerator?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks.
