14' Aluminum Jon w/ 44# Trolling Motor...how fast will it go? How long will it

Hi all,<br /><br />Just some general questions about trolling motors, etc.<br /><br />I have an aluminum 14' Jon boat with a MotorGuide 44# transom mount trolling motor.<br /><br />I was wondering how fast it might go in calm conditions and was wondering how long a charge on the battery would last. <br /><br />Any ideas on this. Plan on taking it out tomorrow for the first time and was wondering what to expect.<br /><br />Also, what's up with the 50amp circuit breaker that is recommended? I can't seem to find one around here at any of the stores and was wondering if they were necessary or can I go out and test this thing without worry? <br /><br />Any advice would be great.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />MW

3-5 mph ?<br /><br />You should be able to run for 3-8 hours, at half throttle, maybe as long as 12 hours, depending on the battery condition-age-size.

My 14 flat bottom has a 27 lb thrust and will go about 3 1/2-4 mph with a good battery. I am wanting to step up to a 45-50 lb thrust because I don't use gas at all.
