The identification plate is worn and barely legible. The best I can make of it, the max hp may be 30 horse. Does this sound right to you guys? I have a 16' that came fron sears in the early seventies that says 60 hp. Just wondering.

Maybe. Demensions would help. My 1988 14.5' deep and wide aluminium Springbok is rated for 28 hp (I run a 30 hp). My buddies shallow 14' boat is rated 20 hp.

Need the pictures. Our '67 14' is rated for 40hp. A 14' lite, would only be 15hp.

Re: 14' aluminum Starcraft "V" bottom

I have determined that the boat is a 1974, Starcraft aluminum. Searching the internet I came across info stating 25 hp max and 45 hp max. I did not find anything saying 30 hp. So I figure if I use a 25 hp I should be OK. I boat stating 25 hp max only weighed 145 lbs. My boat is definitly heavier then that.

I don't know how to put pictures on here.
Thanks for the help.

My youngest son just went out and sprayed black paint on the plate. He wiped it off with a rag and you could see plane as day it says 30 hp max. Thanks for the help folks.
