14 hp Made in Hong Cong??

I'm working on a 14 hp Johnson. The model number and serial number are scraped and not legible. What I can read, I think, says
made in Hong Cong. I didn't know OMC sold any Chinese motors?
Can anyone confirm?

check the welch plug for numbers. quarter size disc. like a freeeze plug.

Hong Cong was one of several manufacturing points. Usually the model number is preceded by H if Hong Cong is correct.

I'm not familiar with the 14 Hp Chinese model. Is it made to run on kerosene ? OMC made kerosene model engines'

I've never seen one but perhaps brackishbob can tell.

The archives only list Johnson 14HP from '81 to '91.

The other model lists call them "Commercial" motors but have the same model numbers.

Maybe they are actually 15HP motors.
