Hey Guys,

I just picked up a 14 pitch 4 blade aluminum prop for my Alpha One Mercruiser. It was hitting my Anode/Trim tab, so I removed it...but I would like to at least pick up a "blank" but would rather one with a different angle to avoid the hitting and still be able to adjust it. I did find this site:

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...cruiser&um=1&hl=en&gbv=2&tbm=isch&um=1&itbs=1

Does anyone have any advice as to the best solution for this?

Bust out the grinder and take some material off the trim tab, so the prop clears. An Alpha4 prop hit the trim tab on my MC-1 too, but a couple minutes with the grinder and it was all better, I clearanced it about 1/4", then put an angle back on the edge to relieve that flat spot caused by grinding.

You could do it with a file too, but it would take a lot longer... (I would remove the trim tab, before grinding.)

They make offset trim tabs to help this situation. I have one on my engine, but my prop hit it anyway so I too got out the grinder and ground it off till the prop cleared it by 1/4" also and it works just fine. Just remember where it was positioned so that when you put it back on your trim will be as it was.
