Gents,

Allow me to start with some context and back story as to why I am considering this.

growing up my family would drive across the country from Alberta to Ontario every other summer to visit my uncle nad his family at his cottage. He has a 14' sidewinder, i learned to water ski and wakeboard behind that thing and it was the first real boat i ever got to drive. There are a lot of good memories in that boat and lately I've been longing for one of my own.

I've found a hull locally for what I would consider a decent price, however the seller does not know much about it other then its been sitting outdoors for the last few years. I am assuming at this point that the floor and transom are rotted away and that I will need to split the top of the boat from the bottom and rebuild/ replace both. For somebody who has very little fiberglass experience how daunting of a task is this?

Also while I am in there is there anything else I should consider doing? Should I get a jack plate? Trim tabs? A pad?

Drop your knowledge on me please. I've been reading a bunch of material on what to do and I think i have a good idea of what to do but the actual difficulty seems to be lost on me.

It’s just hot , dirty , itchy , smelly process ... If your ok with that and throwing a few bucks at it there’s nothing about it that you can’t do ... A little carpentry skills are a plus but not absolutely necessary...
