140 evinrude wont deliver the full power and stalls

Hello Forum:

I have a Evinrude 140 1979 and launced today with horrible results. The engine seemed like it was running on 2 cylinders than full throttle and then stalled after 3 minutes. Now it wont stay running. Only runs at high idle and then stalls,, I think maybe a coil,,?

Answer these questions,-------What are the compression values.?--------Wll spark jump an air gap of 3/8" on all 4 leads.

Coils are usually pretty reliable. Agree with racerone's suggested tests. You can also check spark with an inductive timing light. If you find you have poor spark on one or two cyls, you can perform another ignition test: swap the two power packs and see if that changes anything.
