I am still trying to find out the exact sterndrive unit I have. The serial number is long gone, from the outdrive unit. Here's what I have, so far for info: it's on an 18' Starcraft Chieftan (1978), it's a 140 hp model, it has a 17 spline drive shaft. The gimbal housing has a serial number of 515514T. I can count the splines on the prop shaft, if it helps.

Ayuh,..... It's more than likely some version of the Model 1 drive,....

What parts are ya needin' that ya gotta identify,..??

The MC-1 is an MC-1, til ya open 'em up, 'n need certain parts,...

Post some pictures of it at photo bucket or somewhere, 'n link 'em back to this thread,....

Thanks, Bondo - removed the port side tag and found 5131382 stamped in the metal beneath. I didn't see the ratio stamped in it, though. I think the ratio on the 140's are all the same. I have to replace the carrier bearing (and it's seals, etc), probably the universal joint.. I'll discover more as I go, I'm sure. Thanks again!
