140 HP Johnson

I was told this was a 1971 but apparently it's not. 140 HP Johnson. Two pistons have minor damage from broken rings. I will replace pistons and rings on all 4 cylinders and whatever comes up beyond that. Is this motor worth repairing or is it an anchor?

Generally yep! Disassemble and take it to a marine machineist that you trust. He will tell you what you need. You may not have to replace the other two pistons but the machineist will tell you for sure.

When properly overhauled it should be as good as new.

Oh - - - And make sure you determine why the two pistons rings failed else you may be doing the overhaul more than once.
