Well gents, the saga goes on. Good input so far and the repaired water jacket leak has left me with an eager motor! She starts easily, even cold. Idles fine and revs nicely w/o load. Once in the water tho she won't get off the starting blocks. If I try to use the throttle lever other then to put in rev or fwd she dies. I can only use the idle lever to get her going and then it literally takes a slllooowwww increase over about 2 mins to get her to open up and run (still using the idle lever - not the throttle since it doesn't seem to affect it at all). Once she planes out, she seems to go nice and smoothly up to what I'm guessing is about three-fourths of her top end. Any ideas are certainly welcome, I'll try 'em all! (grin)

Check to make sure the timing is advancing as the throttle is moved. If it isn't then you get really slllooowwww acceleration and not achieve WOT RPM. The other thing worth trying is to richen the idle mixture on the carbs (all 3) about 1/4 turn.

Chris...........

If it's anything like my 1500, the idle mixture settings will be about 2-3 turns out CCW from lightly seated position. Mine won't accelerate on anything under 2.. Just a potential baseline for you to work with.
