Hey, guys i have a little problem that i dont know if it is normal or not. When i start the boat up the motor wiggles and shakes for the first 30 seconds or so. It shakes the boat and just dont seem right after the 30 second mark it runs fine and dont move at all. What could this be?

The choke seems to be fine. It opens and closes freely while i move the throttle im not realy sure how to check it though. Thank You for your input!

Uh, I don't think that's the choke.

What year is the motor?

What is your starting procedure?

Re: 140 merc rough starts

Its a 1985 mercruiser 140, when i start i put the throttle about half way and turn the key then pull it in neutral when it starts up. It wont start for the first time after sitting for a couple of days unless i do that. After it runs a little it will start up in neutral but after sitting for even ten min its hard to start again and it rummbles at first. It has an electric choke. Thanx

Sounds like she's flooding at start up then settles down once the excess fuel is burnt?

Theres some real carb savvy guys here that will help you more than I can..
