140 mercruiser hard starting

i took the boat out for the first time yesterday it seemed good the only thing is i need to cdank the crap out orf the motor to get it to start once it starts its fine but if i let sit for a half hour or so it will do the same. Also what rpm should i plane out at it seems at 3000 rpms i dont have much power im breaking the engine in so i didnt go past that they say i beleive 4200 4600 is wot so i figure at 3000 i should be moving better than that or maybe thats just how it is. thank you

What is you are actually having to do to get it started again? :confused:

Also - not trying to bust your chops or anything, but your post is difficult to read - a few punctuation marks will help. ;)

From your other post I see points. From what I get in your message, hard starting cold, then ok from there. Choke issue. Whatever type choke you have, as the engine cools it needs to close. Also, when starting cold, push the handle forward one or twice to squirt a little fuel into the carb. leave at 1/4 open and crank. Be ready to pull it back once it fires.
