1400 Wire harness compatible with 1500

I am trying to sell parts off my merc 1400 (1978) I6. One buyer wants to know if the wiring harness and throttle would be compatible on his 1500. He has power trim and I do not, but he says he doesn't plan on using power trim anyway.

Is the plug compatible?

Trim wires are separate anyhow.

Would the wire harness be compatible between 1968 merc 500 and a 1972 merc 1400. I think i smoke my switch box on my 500 or have a bad wire harness in my boat from the 1400??
