1409 edelbrock carb jetting

i just installed a new edelbrock 1409 600cfm carb and edelbrock performer intake and vortec heads on my 4.3 mercruiser and i installed the 1485 needle and jet kit edelbrock recommended the engine has a lean condition on the bottom end has anyone else had this issue with this same setup.

there are 3 holes on the carb pump move it to the top, if I'm not mistaken thats the richest setting yours is set in the middle. I don't care for the edelbrock #1409 on these engines, you need a real rich setting to make it work even with the edelbrock #2111 mani...
