15 hp air fillter

I have a 1988 15 hp suzuki that I recently bought and it runs really well but it does not have an air fillter on it. The cowling on it seems to keep dust out of the carb but I was wondering if its ok to run it with out one for the next 2 or 3 trips or at least until I can get one.

Don't know about the newer (post-2000) ones, but most of the older outboards don't have air filters. Not a lot of dust out on the water.

Outboards don't have air filters due to the relatively dust-free environment on the water. The plastic air box on the intakes is an air silencer to cut down on intake sounds, also acts as a flame arrestor for intake back-fires.
