I just finished rebuilding my carb, starts like a dream.
I am not to happy with the way it idles and sputters a bit on high speed.
From reading the forums it may be because I am running on the muffs?

I would love some input on the adjustments, from what I see there are three:
Idle Adjustment
Cam Follower on the carb
The timing adjustment under the flywheel.

Thanks

Re: 15 HP Evinrude 1986 Adjustment help

Should run fine on muffs for idle. Initial setting is to turn the idle needle all the way in till gently seated and back it out 1 1/2 turns. Fine tune it using the knob in 1/8th turns, to the right is lean, left is rich. You shouldn't attempt high speed on muffs, no back pressure. Have you checked the compression?

Good article on these motors and the carbs:

I haven't checked the compression. I was surprised when taking apart the motor that it appears hardly used. But I will check.

What should I look for?

Do the adjustment first, if it doesn't fix check compression with a gauge and report back the readings. Looking for a like reading between both cylinders.
