Hi all;

I've got a 15hp Gamefisher that's overheating. I'm pretty sure it's being caused by the water exhaust port that's at the rear and below the powerhead. The rubber grommet/"O" ring/ gasket/seal ??? (whatever it's called) seems to be mis-shapened and restricting water from exiting the head. Enough water passes through it to keep the powerhead cool at low idle but once rpms are increased it overheats in no time. My question to you all is how do I get at that seal for closer inspection and/or replacement? Thanks

do you mean the seal at the top of the water pickup tube? if so... dismantle outboard. mines "was" doing that same thing keeping cool at low rpm's then high it would not.

Re: 15 HP Gamefisher over heating

I think I've figured out what the problem is. That "water exhaust port" is in fact the thermostat housing. Unfortunately there wasn't a thermostat installed in it when I bought it so I thought it was just where the water exited the power head. I suspect the overheating at high speed is because the thermostat is not there to enabling the powerhead to fill will water. The thermostat must have been remove at some point and because the rubber seal was so mis-shapened, not reinstalled. Time and a test run will tell when I compete repairs. Thank you for your input.
