15 hp Johnson What year is it?

Purchased used 15 hp Johnson short shaft. Can't read the model number or serial number seems to be worn off. Removed the cowling and on the engine there was a circular plate with the following numbers:
J15RCUD
E6230087
Want to purchase repair/service manual but want to be sure I get the right one. Any help is appreciated.

that's a 1987...you can tell the year of a Johnson/Evinrude(1980 and newer)by using the word "introduces"...put a 1 under the i...a 2 under the the n...a 3 under t and so on then drop the last letter in the model(the d) and you have an 8 and a 7 for c and u
