New to the forum and need some help, I've got a 15' tunnel hull pathfinder with a 40hp on it. My issue is when i give it throttle to jump out of the hull the boat squats real bad and the motor sounds like its bogging down and almost at half throttle, plus the boat just does not want to jump up with me and one extra person. Now once the boat gets on plain the motor revs up and the thing takes off like a rocket. No I'm not the first owner and did not mount the motor plus the motor does NOT have a trim and tilt motor, just the assist for towing the boat on the trailer. once you give it some throttle in the water the motor kicks all the way down. now i do plan on either grabbing a trim and tilt for it or a jack plate with a trim and tilt built into it to help with the ride and the hop issue I'm having. but I'm just curious if anyone else has had an issue like this and if its actually the position of my motor and a trim and tilt would help the issue or its too big of a prop because like i said. once the boat gets on plain the motor revs up and sounds like its at its max potential and the things speeds up like a rocket.

Does this picture tell you anything, i.e. 60 ponies, not 40, 4 blade prop for better grip and usually the blade shape is designed for stern lift, not bow lift like most 3 blade SS props......with the HP to twist it.....your comments about RPMs in the hole shot is typical of 2 strokers when overloaded....too much pitch in the prop and load to push for the available HP, and trim tabs for the stern lift probably required since the "transom" area is minimized, even though it extends beyond the engine....which helps. You can't see the PTT lift cylinder(s) but it probably has the function. The jackplate could/would allow for shallower water operation. Problem I see with that accessory is that it moves the engine farther back and hull surface area for stern lift durning the "hole shot" is reduced.....undesirable. These are my first thoughts and apparently somebody else agreed.
