I`ve had my 15hp 2 stroke on several 15" transom boats over the years. The new Tracker riveted jon 1542 has a 16.5" transom.I measured from the top of the bracked on the motor, and it looks like I`ll still be at least 1" over the cavitation plate,I should be fine right?Seems like I might be a tad better in shallow water,if anything. This boat comes with a gravity wet well in the center seat, seems this could cause issues mounting a swivel base right where the door is,and thoughts on how the front seat could be mounted?I`d planned on mounting the stainless base deal with the nylon bushing hole.I might offset it way to the side, but would cause balance issius with my over 200# son.

For that rig I think the mfgr. had your best interests in mind in setting the transom at 16.5. On the seat, can you attach it to the lid and flip it when you flip the lid or would that be a problem if someone is sitting on the seat and bait is needed. You can put a latch on the non hinged side of the lid to lock it down when running.

I have ran the boat with short shaft 8hp,and for normal running it works great, however when using shallow water drive,I don`t get nearly the "bite" before it cavitates,as you need max power going up thru strong current at the top of a set of shoals.I did mount the base to the lid,it`s like 1/8" thick, and will work fine,I have to putt the seat from the base to lift the seat, but that's fine. The base on the rear seat is not working out so good,as the thickness of the alum is more thin, and flexes some if you lean back, some reinforcement may be in order, but prefer not to use wood.
Thanks!

I don't know if you are still here or left with your answer. If still here, expect what you get with shallow water drive. Your thrust is at a high angle and performance can't be compared to the regular tilt position.

Move the trim pin down if you want better shallowater drive operation. If it is down as far as it goes you get what you get.
