15 X 17 prop question

I have a mercruiser 260 with an alpha 1 gen 1 or 2 now has a 14 1/2 X 17 prop on it and it broke a blade. My question is will a 15 X 17 prop work on the boat? My specs call for just the 14 1/2 X 17 but whats a 1/2 inch gonna cause me? Sorry Im new to boating and props.

As long as the extra 1/2" will clear the vent plate you should not notice any differance at all.
