150 1991 force lower unit

I have recently experienced some slipping of my prop at hight speeds and when trying to plane from a stop . I tried changing the prop ( it was a spare I had around )] but same thing . I also notice rpm increase at hight speeds . I don't know much about lower units and if there is a clutch system etc . any input would be greatly appreciated . Thanks Jim

There is no clutch.
Just a gear with a couple of teeth, or cogs.
Its either in gear, or out.

Any noise, clunking, or jerking, would be lower unit.
If it is just an increase in rpm and a slowing or the boat, sounds like a spun prop hub.
