I have recently lost some wot rpm's. With rodbolts help i found and fixed several issues. Installed new fuel pumps, double clamped the fuel connections, bypassed the quick connect and engine mounted filter and cleaned the carbs. A fuel water seperator is installed after the tank and before the bulb.

Yesterday i checked timing and resynced the carbs as per the seloc manual. However i noticed that only the bottom carb keeps getting oil in the jets and there is some showing up in the throttle body just under the choke butterflies. Why would oil be there? Is this normal? I am not putting oil in the gas. It also isn't blue colored but gold colored like fresh 4 stroke oil. This oil was also there before i went thru the carbs. And now its back after just idling on the muffs to check my work and set the idle speed.

My first thought was the bottom set of reeds but i dont believe i could even pull 4400-4600 rpms i am pulling even though that is lower than it was. Any advice will be greatly appreciated as i don't have a clue what to do.

small amounts of reed spit back is rather normal, its also why the drain line from the lower port side of the airbox to the intake manifold is there.
could also be a defective recirc valve on the block.
find that in the manual :) :)

Great news, i'm going to change the oil in the foot and start fishing. Tired of staring at this monitor all winter.

Thanks rodbolt yer info is invaluable on here, learned more from reading you and Ray's post' on here than i would ever figure out on my own.

If you ever are in Tennessee around Dale Hollow and want to go after smallmouth i'll tell you some good spots, in the spring i can guarentee 4lb. + fish. But alas the size limit is 16-21 in.--anything in that size range goes back in, tough to watch a 5.5 lb smallie that was 20 1/2 in. swim away.
