Please help!!!!!!!!!

93 fast strike 150.... having a "spit" at idle, and fuel restriction warning horn at or near WOT. warning horn ceases once I back off of the throttle. Could these two issues be caused by same defect? both issues go away if I continue to pump primer bulb. this leads me to believe I have a fuel restriction issue, but can't figure it out.

I have replaced fuel pump with brand new pump, new fuel filter, carb kits, thermostats, pulse fitting, impeller, have ran it on seperate portable tank. VRO is not connected...I run premix. Motor runs well throughout all other rpm ranges.
any ideas??????

thanks

To probably diagnose it you will have to hook up a vacuum gage in line from your fuel tank and watch the needle, at 7hg your solid tone alarm will kick off . This will probable result in a bad anti syphon valve and/or fuel tank pick up screen. Also if you have a small portable tank you can also hook it up to your motor , and eliminate the fuel tank out...

Are you using 3/8" fuel fittings and fuel line?

anti syphon valve is Causing it. Pull it out and knock the ball bearing out & the spring holding it in place. Also since you will be that far into it pull the pick up screen and give it a good clean ...Good Luck

Probably not A-S valve, as he did try a portable fuel tank and line, and still had the same issue.

yes, using 3/8 fuel hose bulb and fittings. I tried a portable again today, same issue. I did find some trash in my fuel filter, which I think may take care of my top end fuel restriction...but, still have the spit at idle.

How did you diagnose it your horn as a fuel restriction warning and not an overheat? Were you measuring fuel line vacuum at WOT?

If it was an overheat it should have went into SLOW.

just assumed it was not overheat, since the alarm would stop immediately when I would back off of WOT. Also, I have replaced impeller and both thermostats...have very strong tell tale.

Re: 150 fast strike fuel restriction warning??

I found that I had a dirty fuel filter which was a surprise, due to just replacing it not long ago...not sure if I have fuel line deterioation or dirty fuel tank. I cleaned my fuel tank, so I don't suspect that. Also, I found that my pick up fitting from the fuel tank was a 5/16 fitting....replaced it with the 3/8. I'm certain though that the restriction was a result of the dirty fuel filter. thanks for your input....i appreciate the feedback.
