Gday all from sunny Australia,
I have a 98 Johnson 150 Ficht 150FSXECR I service myself, last couple of gear oil changes have noticed milky oil anyway it has got worse and I am going to operate, looking at the parts manual there is a seal 341281 before the bearing seal housing assy, I guess that is the prime suspect but I notice there is some O rings around that assy should I replace them as well? To be really pessimistic is there a chance the water is coming in through the water pump? A few years ago we ran over a log and bent the shaft, turned into an insurance job so the 'experts' rebuilt it this was about a 150 hours ago, don't know if that is important.
Thanks in anticipation
David

The water pump is seperate from the gearcase and oil.-----------There are seals on the driveshaft below the waterpump.--------More likely that shift rod o-ring is the culprit.--------Replacement covers now use 2 o-rings in them,.

Pressure and vacuum test the gear case and then you'll know exactly where it's leaking.
