150 hp Force

I hate to ask this because seems like evryone ask. I have a force 150 by mercury marine and would like to know the year model. on the older force motors the first two digits of the serial number were the year model. on this one the serial number starts with 00, I dont think they were in buisness in 2000.<br />thanks

The 150 was made from 1989 thru 1994.<br />And the last year of any Force production was 1999.<br /><br /><br />Post the serial number AND model number.<br /><br />Force motors built by USMarine were identified by the model number, and the first 2 (or 3) numbers were the hp.<br /><br />When Merc bought Force, the used their own system and the serial number was used to id the year. The year is not in the serial number though, you have to look the serial number up in a list. The 150's are kind of hard to pinpoint.

Ok, now I feel real stupid.<br />The 150hp motor is a real doozy to id.<br />They have actually lumped the 1989 - 1994 models all together.<br />Its the only one I have seen like this.<br />There were lots of versions and parts combinations, but the three lists I have checked, all list the same info.<br /><br />Serial numbers E000001 - E093699 1989-1994<br /><br /><br />I would suggest you contact a Mercury dealer for more info.<br />Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Why was the 150 discontinued?

Major help needed. I have a 1992 150hp Force with a bad Rev Limiter #332-4796) and I can't seem to find any place to purchase one. Lightning hit our motor and we think it fried the Limiter and possibley the power pack. Engine sputters at higher RPM's and gives only about 75% of it's previous speed.
