I was hoping to get some help with a problem. I have a 1985 Mercury 150hp Black Max engine (serial #6443205) and the Tilt/Trim Motor finally died on me this past winter after years of having issues.

I want to replace the motor, but I cannot locate a serial number on my exisitng model and I'm not sure which model I need to order.

My current tilt/trim motor has three wires coming out of it (blue, green and black) and the motor has a squarish shape to it. Other then that, it has no distinguishing numbers or features to it. I think that's because the previous owner at one time sanded it down and repainted it a couple of times.

So any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to iboats. :)

An automotive alternator/starter rebuilder might be able to tackle it. Check your Yellow Pages or ask at an Auto Parts store that does machining. Arco makes a replacement pump that fits right in. Iboats sells them. Look here or more likely here

Your trim pump assembly is Merc Part number 826729A08

What your going to find is that the motor is obsolete and you must buy a new pump and motor assembly. Merc has them for a $1K or so but I'g go with an aftermarket kit that will set you back much less.
