Is there a big difference between the weight of a older 140 and a newer 150 hp motor?? I am looking at buying a newer Force 150 hp but the boats capacity says 140hp max. Right now it has a Force 125 hp on it. Does anyone even make a 140 hp anymore?
Thanks,
Ånd¥

Nobody here will go on-record and flat-out say "go for it"..due to liablilty issues. :)

Let's just say, I've seen slight overpowering more often than i've seen gross overpowering.
But you're correct in predicting a lighter newer motor weight, except for four-cycle motors, They are much heavier than the CG plaqued the hull for, when it was built.

Thanks, 12footer I thought I might be correct about the weight thing.(excluding 4 cycle) I wonder if the torque from a newer, 150 hp motor would be equal or greater than an old 140?
